'tis the season to eat all the things! Let's be honest, this whole year has been the season of eating all the things, and you know... There is NO shame in that. This has been one of the most God awful years I've experienced in my (mumbling softly) years of life. And I've had some doozies!
This year, we need to find joy where we can find it. I like warm hugs, cinnamon rolls, and PIE!
It's lovely. It's crispy. It's soft, sweet, salty, crunchy, smooth, hot, cold, à la mode! It can be almost anything you want it to be. I admit, I wasn't on the pie team from the get go. It seemed like every other sweet...IDK. If you or someone you know is a pie person, you know there is no room for that kind of warbling allegiance. It is "PIE IS THE BEST!" End of discussion.
As the years have gone by, I've become more obsessed with this particular tasty. It's pretty easy to make a good pie. It's pretty difficult to make a great pie. In my years of pastry experience, it is most certainly, one of the hardest to hit correctly every time. Was the kitchen warmer that day? Was is more humid out? Were there more people in the kitchen, warming up the coolers with their projects? Etc. Etc. Etc. (Professional kitchens, like home ones, have drawbacks.) This is the first year that I will be doing my pie program out of my home kitchen (with a cottage license, of course). I am excited and terrified at what the program will bring this year, but if it's even a quarter of the success I've had in the past, it'll be great!
Sadly, Surly Brewing has pulled their support for the pie program this year. I don't want to get into specifics. Suffice to say, I'm bummed, but we must carry on. Don't worry, if booze is what you seek, I am fairly heavy handed with the rum upon request.
If you want one of my fabulous pies for your thanksgiving or Holiday table please order one through my website store or shoot me a message at email@example.com . Side note, images above are laset years pies, so you're pie will have a new and fabulous design coming! Woo!
I love you all! We will get through this together, with the help of as many baked goods as my kitchen can produce!
